Oxidative Stress

What is Oxidative Stress?

Oxidative stress is caused by ‘free radicals’ or atoms with ‘unpaired electrons’. These molecules try to restore their chemical balance by stealing an electron from another, otherwise healthy atom, causing damage (otherwise known as oxidative stress).

What causes Oxidative Stress?

Free radicals are natural by-products of ongoing biochemical reactions in the body, including ordinary metabolic processes and immune system responses. Additionally, free radical-generating substances can be found in the food we eat, the drugs and medicines we take, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. These substances include fried foods, alcohol, tobacco smoke, pesticides, air pollutants, and many more.

Why is Oxidative Stress an important factor in our health?

When free radicals oxidize important components of the cell, those components lose their ability to function normally, and the accumulation of such damage may cause the cell to die. Numerous studies indicate that increased production of free radicals causes or accelerates cell injury and leads to a large number of diseases.

Anteaox & Antioxidants

How do antioxidants work?

Antioxidants are able to ‘donate’ a spare electron to the free radical, leaving both the donor and the receiver in balance and thereby eliminating oxidative stress.

How are Polyphenol antioxidants different to typical antioxidants?

They are distinctly different from common antioxidants such as beta-carotene, selenium and vitamins C and E and are considered more potent in their antioxidant ability and importantly, often work in unison with each other and can have a synergistic effect when used in combination ie the combined effect is stronger than the sum of the individual components. This synergistic effect cannot be over-emphasised. In addition to their powerful antioxidant capabilities, phenols have demonstrated other, just as important, modes of action. This means they can help correct numerous diseases on a number of fronts

Which Polyphenols does Anteaox deliver?

While the ingredients Anteaox uses have been shown to produce an impressive 111 polyphenols, Anteaox has been specifically formulated to target 18 key Polyphenols.

University Mass Spectrometry testing has confirmed Anteaox delivers, at the very least, the following Polyphenols: Formononetin, Kaempferol, p.Coumaric acid, Caffeic acid, CAPE, Ferulic acid, Benzoic acid, Hydroxybenzoic acid, 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylacetic acid, Gallic acid, Ellagic acid, Cinnamic acid,Catechin, EGCG, Protocatechuic acid, Resveratrol, Quercetin and Curcumin.
